报告题目 Polygon Meshes Fairing via Gaussian Curvature Flow Diffusion

Abstract: Mesh fairing by the mean curvature flow diffusion and its various modifications have became extremely popular in image and mesh processing. How about Gaussian curvature flow in mesh fairing? In this talk, we try to discuss this problem. We find that the compact convex mesh can be smoothed and shrinked using Gaussian curvature flow diffusion. However, for non-convex meshes, Gauss curvature does not often work. To avoid the disadvantage, we first develop two smoothing schemes based on Gaussian curvature flow diffusion for mesh with arbitrary connectivity. Then we construct a combined mean-Gauss curvature fairing scheme with preserving desirable geometric features of the object. Finally, Experimental results show that the designed fairing scheme can effectively remove the noise and the same time preserve the shape of corners and edges.
