报告题目： Recent Advances in Convex Optimization

报告摘要：

  The "Interior Point Revolution" was sparked in 1984 by Karmarkar's epoch making paper. Since then optimization research has been driven by search for new powerful Interior Point Methods (IPMs), the new algorithms allowed us to identify new, efficiently solvable problem classes, that in turn opened new application areas. In this talk we give a crash introduction into IPMs and the recently identified new problem classes; illustrate the dramatic increase in the capacity of optimization software. increase in the capacity of optimization software. Finally we give some insight in some limitations of IPMs by displaying a Klee-Minty example for IPMs.
