Statistical Microdamage Mechanics: linking coupled multiple space and time scales
报告摘要:
The failure of solid materials is a typical problem involving coupled multiple space and time scales. The fundamental difficulty in the problem is due to the hierarchy and evolution of microstructures with various physics and rates at various length levels in solids. In this presentation, a closed, trans-scale formulation of damage evolution based on statistical Microdamage mechanics is introduced. The spallation in an aluminum plate is studied with this formulation. It is illustrated that reasonable characterization and treatment of the trans-scale coupling is key to the mutli-scale problems.
