摘要:

Monte Carlo simulation is an essential tool in emission tomography, enabling the design of medical imaging devices and development of image reconstruction algorithms. It is widely used in positron emission tomography (PET) and single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT).

GEANT4 is a Monte Carlo simulation platform that simulates the transport of particles in matter, with mature physical models, geometric modeling tools, and efficient visualization utilities. GATE is an emission tomography simulation platform based on GEANT4, providing a modular, multifunctional, and scriptable simulation toolkit. It is easier to use than GEANT4 directly, more powerful, flexible, and widely used in nuclear medicine for detector simulation, radiation source simulation, patient model simulation, image reconstruction, etc.

This report introduces the application of GATE in PET simulation, covering the basic usage methods of GATE, including the setup of simulation geometries, the design of radiation sources and phantoms, the writing of simulation code, and the analysis of ROOT results. Case studies are presented to demonstrate the application of GATE in PET simulation.
