Due to the small diffusion, the solution to convection-dominated convection-diffusion equation has singularities in the form of boundary or interior layers. How to generate optimal meshes for this kind of problem is an important issue in computational community. In this report, I will present our recent work where we propose a strategy to generate the anisotropic meshes for the convection-dominated convection-diffusion equation using stabilized finite element method.
